About Sally-Ann

Sally currently works with the epilepsy team at University Hospitals Sussex (NHS) part time and is the founder and consulting nurse of Epilepsy explained. She is a learning/intellectual disability nurse.  Her experience includes the role of matron for a residential epilepsy service, hospital nurse specialist, advanced nurse practitioner, and freelance nurse consultant. Her patients include adults with and without learning/intellectual disabilities, transition in teenagers, women and pregnancy, and elderly care. She has a degree in Epilepsy. I am an independent nurse prescriber and have a medical MSc in Epileptology from Kings College London. She has received recognition from King's College London and the International League Against Epilepsy for her research into constipation and its relationship with seizure frequency. She is also an executive committee member of ESNA (EpilepSy Nurse Association), UK; a group which develops and reviews guidelines, care projects and research to support the wider community of Epilepsy Nurses and associates within the UK.
